ESG at INTREAL

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

As a manager of long-term real estate investments, our decisions are geared to the future and based on a responsible approach to the environment and society.

INTREAL actively contributes to the implementation of the Paris Climate Change Agreement. We use the options available to us to avoid carbon emissions and make our day-to-day office work more resource-efficient with tips for saving energy (INTREAL Green Card). Specifically, we aim to improve our consumption of resources each year, for example in the area of energy and heating in our own rental space, with the goal of becoming a climate-neutral employer by 2030. Early identification of changes in the market, implementation of regulatory requirements and future-oriented digital management form part of our corporate philosophy.

„We do not act on the spur of the moment, but rather after due consideration. We cultivate our employees’ potential with training opportunities and endeavour to use the strengths of each employee in a productive way.“

Hannah Dellemann, Head of Sustainability

ESG aspects are incorporated centrally at INTREAL and are implemented in all areas of the company. All steps towards a more sustainable enterprise are managed and reviewed by our Head of Sustainability.

  • We manage properties in a resource and energy efficient way.
  • Emissions are avoided as far as possible to reduce our environmental footprint along the entire value chain.

  • We actively raise awareness of the issue of environmental and social sustainability among our employees.

GOVERNANCE

  • We are committed to continuously developing and expanding the collection, analysis and preparation of non-financial performance indicators.
  • We firmly reject corruption and bribery and take action against any violations or misconduct with labour law and criminal law consequences.
  • We ensure compliance with international human rights standards by following principles such as non-discrimination and accountability for our own actions and involvement.

  • UN Global Compact

Our internal specialists and our Head of Sustainability participate in various working groups, e.g. of the BVI and the ZIA. We use our potential influence to help shape market developments.

INTREAL stands for an integrated work-life balance concept. We support this with flexible working hours and remote work.

SUSTAINABILITY IN DAY-TO-DAY WORK – IT’S ALSO ABOUT THE SMALL THINGS

In our day-to-day work, we encourage personal interaction as well as interaction with the environment. We have incorporated these principles in our corporate structure. In order to improve a company’s carbon footprint, all employees need to get involved. Even just adjusting a few types of behaviour and carefully considering the use of materials can help significantly improve the company’s environmental footprint. On our path to greater sustainability, we involve our employees by way of employee satisfaction analyses, a suggestion system and specific proposals for measures. Some of the sustainability measures that we put into practice together with our employees are listed below:

OUR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY COMMITMENT

As a successful Service KVG (Fund Administrator and AIFM), INTREAL takes on social responsibility beyond its core business. This commitment is reflected in various social projects that are regularly offered at different times of the year.

Donation options

Instead of giving gifts to customers at Christmas, INTREAL supports charitable organisations in Germany. All employees are invited to make suggestions for projects and institutions. A vote is then held to select the five organisations that will receive a donation.

Christmas wish tree

All INTREAL colleagues have the opportunity to sponsor gifts at Christmas. Children and young people write wish lists that are hung up on the INTREAL Christmas tree. The wish lists can be fulfilled in return for a cash donation.

Offer of tissue typing by DKMS and issue of organ donor cards

We regularly provide information on organ donation and leukaemia. All colleagues have the option to get involved. On a voluntary basis, colleagues can be tissue-typed at an employee event so that they can register as stem cell donors. In addition, organ donor cards are offered to all employees.

Non-cash donations

Campaigns are organised at regular intervals to collect non-cash donations for three selected regional organisations. These organisations are presented within the company beforehand so that employees have the opportunity to find out about them and make targeted donations.
