As of 1 July 2026, INTREAL in Luxembourg has assumed the responsibilities of Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) and central administrator for a Luxembourg-based infrastructure fund. As part of the set-up, the self-managed fund was converted into a fully regulated fund structure compliant with the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD).
“By taking on these mandates, we are implementing a demanding transformation process in the Luxembourg fund market. Combining AIFM and central administration under one roof creates clear responsibilities and simplifies the regulatory oversight of complex fund structures. This demonstrates our strength as a platform partner for real asset structures with demanding regulatory requirements,” says Ilva Diaco, Conducting Officer Portfolio Management, Marketing & Distribution at INTREAL in Luxembourg.
The fund invests in renewable energy infrastructure and holds a portfolio of seven existing assets, comprising two solar parks in Italy as well as two solar parks and three wind farms in Germany. The fund is administered through INTREAL’s Luxembourg office. The transition was implemented during ongoing operations and in close coordination with all partners involved.
“The infrastructure investment market is developing dynamically. At the same time, requirements for governance, transparency and compliance are increasing. Existing funds, in particular, increasingly need to align established structures with current regulatory standards. This fund underlines that renewable energy investments require not only operational asset expertise but also fund administration that reflects the long-term nature of these investments,” says Markus Schmidt, Head of Infrastructure Business Development at INTREAL.
